Studying abroad while at Washington College has far-reaching benefits for students, regardless of their programs of study. It expands world perspectives as it opens minds to different political, social, cultural, and economic traditions.
One of the goals of the Global Education Office (GEO) is to foster an intercultural education experience for both current WC students who want to study abroad and incoming international students. Washington College has a broad range of partner institutions all over the world, and all WC students can start studying abroad as early as their second-semester sophomore year!

I have been fortunate to have been able to travel to the Philippines, Cuba, and Turkey during my time at Washington College. These experiences have shaped me as a person more than I ever thought I’d be able to admit.
Like most students, the idea of studying abroad was something I found intriguing. I was always asking about opportunities on my college tours or info sessions. Back then I was constantly switching my “top choice” of destination: Japan, Australia, Denmark, and Germany all had the top slot at some point.
The global experiences that I have had at Washington College have given me the most valuable experiences during my four years here. Prior to the virtual experience, I have had the opportunity to travel internationally and work alongside bright minds representing a plethora of countries around the globe.
